You are invited be part of an exciting new concept in equine sport, offering cash and prizes worth over $5,700 by competing at the amazing AELEC indoor arena in front of a great crowd.

 

In conjunction with the inaugural Australian Horseball Championships we will be putting a new slant on “Skill at Arms” and Tentpegging events . 


On October 23rd & 24th, as part of the Tamworth Equine Exhibition we will be running the biggest Horse ball competition yet held in Australia together with  “short course” skill at arms, lemons and peg, rings and peg and teams Tentpegging challenge.

 

You can nominate to compete in any or all of these events and be in the running to win great prizes and cash using the attached entry form.

 

You don’t need experience – provided that you are a competent rider, all events can be done with little training (which will be offered.)   You can enter as an individual even for the team events and we will fit you into a team.  You can enter as many times as you like (however horse welfare will be monitored.)  Everyone is welcome and we will make sure that all are well acquainted with rules and procedures before they compete.


You need to be a member of the Australian Horseball Association or pay a $15 weekend membership.  A junior competition (Under 16’s) will be conducted if there is sufficient interest.

HORSE BALL

 

The Australian Horseball championships are open to everyone, qualifying rounds will be held in the AELEC camp draft arena with the finals being conducted in the magnificent indoor arena in front of large and boisterous crowds.

 

Prize money of $2000 is being offered to the successful teams with the most successful male and female riders winning a free service to well known stock horse stallion “Binnia Ideal” each service valued at $1,100  kindly donated by Mr Geoffrey ELLIOTT of the Heathfield Australian Stock Horse stud.  

 

Nomination fee is $25 per member, non members $40.  Teams must have a minimum of 5 riders.  (You can nominate as an individual and we will place you in a team.)

 

A draw will be conducted once nominations are received.

 

TENTPEGGING

 

You need not be a member of the Tentpegging Association as this event is run separately, insurance is $15 for non-members of the Horseball Association.  You can nominate as an individual or team of four.  Lances and swords will be loaned to anyone who needs them.  The rules and procedures will be fully explained to competitors and training will be offered along with a practice course if needed.  In addition to prize money a replica light horse trooper sword will be awarded to the highest overall point scorer.

 

TEAMS:     6 Rounds of Lance and 3 Rounds of Sword.  No drill points will be awarded but penalty points will apply for slow pace or other unfair tactics used to gain an advantage.          Nomination $10 per person.

2nd  $150

SKILL AT ARMS:   1 round per entry with multiple entries permitted. 

First twelve places progress onto final round but each competitor may only have one run in final (best score used to determine eligibility).  No drill points awarded but in the event of equal points the fastest time wins.

Nomination  $10 per person.

                             2nd  $50

                             3rd  $25

 

 

RINGS AND PEG.    2 runs (1 round) per entry with multiple entries permitted.   Non timed event & run offs will be held if there is an equality of points. No drill points awarded.

LEMONS AND PEG.    2 runs  (1 round) per entry with multiple entries permitted.   Non timed event & run offs will be held if there is an equality of points.   No Drill.

At this time all competitors will compete against each other, however the organisers may add other divisions to cater for novice competitors if sufficient entries are received.  Prize money will be decided in such an event once entries have been received.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

STABLING AND CAMPING

 

Option One. 

Camp in adjacent paddock with no power and limited water.  Erect your own yards.

$45 per vehicle for three days.

Camp at powered and watered sites with stable provided.

$20 per stable per day and $20 per powered site per day.
